THE MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT IS PIONEERING THE USE OF VIDEO TAPE OR TELEVISION RECORDING TO SUPPLEMENT POLICE IDENTIFICATION PROCEDURES.
Abstract
SINCE DECEMBER 1966 ALL PERSONS ARRESTED IN MIAMI, EXCEPT TRAFFIC VIOLATORS AND DRUNKS, HAVE BEEN RECORDED ON VIDEO TAPE. THESE TAPES ARE USED FOR LINEUP PURPOSES. THEY ARE MORE USEFUL THAN FLAT MUG SHOTS, GIVING A MORE REALISTIC PICTURE. THE STUDIO FACILITIES CAN BE USED TO RECORD TRAINING TAPES.
