THE BUREAU IS CONSIDERED TO FUNCTION EXPERTLY IN THE AREAS OF PROPER SELECTION AND TRAINING OF OFFICERS, WELL-PLANNED AND EXECUTED FIELD OPERATIONS, COOPERATION WITH OTHER AGENCIES, AND COUNTYWIDE SERVICE.
Abstract
THE SANATA CLARA COUNTY NARCOTICS BUREAU BEGAN OPERATION IN MAY OF 1971 WITH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: TO DEVELOP A COUNTYWIDE NARCOTIC AND DANGEROUS DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT CAPACITY; TO ASSIST OTHER COUNTY POLICE AGENCIES IN IMPACTING THE DRUG PROBLEM; AND TO INSTITUTE A PROGRAM OF EDUCATION BOTH FOR PARTICIPATING LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND IN THE COMMUNITY. THE OVERALL IMPACT OF THE BUREAU IS CONSIDERED VERY GOOD BASED UPON AVAILABLE DATA. BUREAU PERSONNEL ARE OBTAINING ARRESTS AT THE LEVEL OF MAJOR DEALERS, AND APPEAR TO BE MOVING IN A POSTIVE DIRECTION BASED UPON THE DOLLAR VALUE OF CONFISCATED DRUGS PER ARREST. ALSO, INROADS ARE BEING MADE INTO THE SPANISH SURNAME/SPANISH SPEAKING POPULATION, A GROUP ACCOUNTING FOR MUCH OF THE DRUG ACTIVITY IN THE COUNTY. COUNTYWIDE IMPACT IS DEEMED GOOD....RCB
