IT IS MAINTAINED THAT INCENDIARY SCHOOL FIRES, WHICH ARE THE MAJORITY, CAN BE PREVENTED OR LIMITED IN SPREAD BY SECURING BUILDINGS AGAINST BREAK-INS AND PROVIDING AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS.
Abstract
INCIDENTS OF ARSON IN VARIOUS SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL SYSTEMS ARE DETAILED, ALONG WITH THE COSTS OF DESTRUCTION. EIGHT WAYS TO PREVENT OR CONTAIN FIRES ARE LISTED. AN ADEQUATE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS CONSIDERED THE SINGLE MOST EFFECTIVE MEASURE. IN ADDITION TO PUTTING OUT FIRES, IN MANY CASES THEY CONTROL SMOKE AND GAS WHICH CAN BE DEADLY TO THOSE IN THE BUILDING....RCB
