THE PERFORMANCE OF AN ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PERSONNEL AND TRAINING HIRED BY THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY IS ASSESSED.
Abstract
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ARE AS FOLLOWS: TO CONDUCT ALL GRIEVANCE HEARINGS; TO ASSUME THE DIRECTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES IN HIS ABSENCE; TO IMPLMENT AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, AND OTHER PROGRAMS; TO STANDARDIZE AND COORDINATE INSERVICE TRAINING FOR SWORN PERSONNEL; TO HELP DEVELOP RECRUITMENT, PLACEMENT, SCREENING, AND TRAINING PROCEDURES; TO CONDUCT STAFF DEVELOPMENT COURSES; TO CONSOLIDATE PERSONNEL RECORDS INTO A CENTRAL SYSTEM; TO REDUCE TURN-AROUND TIME FOR PROCESSING EMPLOYMENT APLICATIONS; TO ADMINISTER THE STATE'S MERIT RULES IN THE DEPARTMENT; AND TO CONDUCT A TASK ANALYSIS OF THE POSITION OF PEACE OFFICER. A LIST OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IS PRESENTED, BASED ON A REVIEW OF DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS. THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IS SAID TO BE ADDRESSING THE RESPONSIBILITES OF HER POSITION AND TO HAVE RELIEVED SWORN PERSONNEL OF ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES. THE OUTLINE USED IN EVALUATING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IS INCLUDED. (LKM)
