Abstract
THE PRESENTATIONS REPRESENT MEDICAL, PHARMACOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, SOCIOLOGICAL, COMMUNITY, VOCATIONAL, AND LEGISLATIVE APPROACHES TO THE PROBLEM OF DRUG ABUSE. IMFORMATION AND POLICY STATEMENTS ON TREATMENT METHODS, FOLLOWUP PROCEDURES, DRUG REHABILITATION PROGRAM DESIGN AND EVALUATION, AND RELATED SOCIAL ISSUES ARE PRESENTED. AMONG SPECIFIC TOPICS ARE DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT PERSONNEL, THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITIES, POLYDRUG ABUSE TREATMENT, METHADONE MAINTENANCE, DETOXIFICATION, DRUG-FREE THERAPY, DRUG-FREE NARCOTIC ANTAGONISTS, LONG-ACTING METHADONE (LAAM), INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT CARE, FAMILY AND ADOLESCENT THERAPY, TREATMENT FOR WOMEN AND MINORITIES, BASIC AND CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY, DRUG-DEPENDENT MOTHERS AND INFANTS, AND ALCOHOL ABUSE.
