Abstract
THE NATURE AND EFFECT OF NARCOTIC POISONING ARE EXAMINED, WITH ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS OF A POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION: (1) DIFFERENTIATING NARCOTISM FROM SIMPLE PNEUMONIA, (2) EVALUATING THE CAUSE OF DEATH (I.E., OVERDOSE, INFECTIONS), AND (3) CATALOGING THE PARAPHENALIA USED TO ADMINISTER THE DOSE AND THE FEATURES OF A NARCOTIC DEATH (E.G., TRACK MARKS, LUNG DAMAGE, HEMORRHAGING, ENLARGED LYMPH NODES).
