Annotation: A SUMMARY OF RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINOLOGY COMPLETED OR CONTINUING IN THE NETHERLANDS DURING THE PERIOD BETWEEN 1976 AND 1977 IS PRESENTED.
Abstract: THIS SUMMARY INFORMS ABOUT THE RESEARCH CONDUCTED BY THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE'S RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION CENTER (RDC) IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY'S OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND INDEPENDENT CRIMINOLOGICAL CENTERS IN THE NETHERLANDS, AS WELL AS ABOUT RESEARCH CONDUCTED BY CENTERS WITHOUT THE MINISTRY'S FUNDING. SINCE THE RDC'S FUNCTION IS SETTING UP ADEQUATE CRIME INFORMATION SYSTEMS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, ADVISING POLICY DEPARTMENTS ON THE BASIS OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INTO FUNDAMENTAL POLICY PROBLEMS, THIS SUMMARY IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE EFFORT TO FURTHER COMMUNICATION BETWEEN RDC AND OTHER RESEARCH CENTERS IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE NETHERLANDS. THIS REPORT IS ARRANGED INTO SECTIONS BY FUNDING SOURCE, FOLLOWED BY CONCISE DESCRIPTIONS OF RESEARCH PROJECTS GROUPED ACCORDING TO LEVEL OF PROGRESS (I.E., EXTERNAL RESEARCH COMPLETED, CURRENT, AND IN PREPARATION). THE SUMMARIES IDENTIFY EACH RESEARCH PROJECT BY THE SCIENTISTS INVOLVED, THE LOCATION OF THE WORK, AS WELL AS NOTING ITS MAJOR THESIS AND SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS. SUBJECTS SUCH AS CONSEQUENCES OF IMPRISONMENT, THE LEGAL POSITION OF MINORS, THE VICTIMS OF CRIME, DRUGS AND DETENTION, THE COST ASSOCIATED WITH BREAKING AND ENTERING, CRIME DETECTION, THE LAW OF SUCCESSION, FOSTER HOMES, AGGRESSION IN LARGE DEPARTMENT STORES, MASS MEDIA AND CRIME ARE EXAMPLES OF THE RESEARCH PROJECTS REVIEWED IN THIS COLLECTION OF SUMMARIES.
