A 1979 DIRECTORY IS PROVIDED FOR LOCAL AND NATIONAL GROUPS DEVOTED TO REFORM IN CORRECTIONS, IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND IN THE COURTS.
Abstract
INFORMATION FOR THE DIRECTORY WAS OBTAINED FROM QUESTIONNAIRES SENT TO ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM THROUGHOUT THE NATION. NAMES OF THE ORGANIZATIONS WERE OBTAINED FROM A VARIETY OF SOURCES. ORGANIZATIONS ARE LISTED ALPHABETICALLY, BY CATEGORIES OF REFORM INTEREST, AND BY STATE OF LOCATION. PROFILES OF THE ORGANIZATIONS INLCUDE REFORM OBJECTIVES, PUBLICATIONS, CHANGE ACTIVITIES, AND ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION. THERE ARE SPECIAL LISTINGS OF NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND LEGAL GROUPS. PRISON PERIODICALS ARE ALSO LISTED. AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY PROVIDES CITATIONS REGARDING ALTERNATIVES TO INCARCERATION, ATTICA, BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION, COURTS, CRIMINAL CODE REVISION, THE DEATH PENALTY, DIRECTORIES, GRAND JURIES, JAILS, JUVENILE JUSTICE, MEDICAL CARE, MEDICAL RESEARCH ON PRISONERS, MINORITIES IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM, THE POLICE, POLITICAL PRISONERS, POVERTY, PRETRIAL JUSTICE, PRISON MORATORIUM, PRISONER RIGHTS, REINTEGRATION, STANDARDS, AND WOMEN IN PRISON. STATEMENTS BY ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING VARIOUS ASPECTS OF PRISON REFORM ARE INCLUDED.
