Abstract
SPECIFIC AREAS OF DEVIANT BEHAVIOR EXAMINED ARE FAMILY VIOLENCE AND HOW THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS DEALING WITH IT, TERRORISM, UNDOCUMENTED MEXICAN WORKERS (ILLEGAL ALIENS), CHILD ABUSE RECOGNITION AND INVESTIGATION, AND ADOLESCENT ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE. THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IN GENERAL IS TREATED IN A PAPER THAT DISCUSSES THE PUBLIC'S CONCERN FOR AND INVOLVEMENT IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, WHILE LAW ENFORCEMENT ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONS ARE DISCUSSED IN PRESENTATIONS ABOUT FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT COOPERATION IN DEALING WITH ARSON; AS WELL AS POLICE ORGANIZATION AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. PAPERS FOCUSING ON CORRECTIONS EXAMINE JAIL AND PRISON GANGS, REHABILITATION PROGRAMS FOR FEMALE OFFENDERS, DEPENALIZATION IN DENMARK, AND THE ROLE OF LONDON'S PROBATION SERVICE (ENGLAND). PRESENTATIONS ON CRIMINOLOGY EXPLORE THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF DEVELOPING AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING EXPLANATION OF CRIME AND A TEST OF THE SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY WITH ADOLESCENT DEVIANCE. A LIST OF 33 REFERENCES RELATING TO SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY IS APPENDED.
