Technical standards are given for machine-readable data files that may be submitted for inclusion in the National Criminal Justice Data Archive which was established by the Bureau of Justice Statistics at the University of Michigan. Major topics covered by these standards are tape recording standards, data types, file organization, standardization of data codes, abstracts, and documentation.
