Continued development of modern prison industries and facilities for education and vocational training are reported, despite special problems created for the prison service by the background of terrorism in the community from which many prisoners come. Specific data are provided on the prison population, staffing, accommodation, discipline, and control. Data are also given on welfare and aftercare, health, education, vocational training, prison industries, borstal administration, and boards of visitors and visiting committees.
