Central offices covered in this report include the general counsel, court liaison division, office of finance and management, field operations, and night supervisors. Summaries of police activities in the seven districts address crime patterns, training, community relations, crime provention programs, and successful investigations. Statistical data on major crimes are presented for each district. Also discussed are the criminal investigation, special operations, and youth divisions. The section on tasks assigned to the administrative bureau focuses on the following areas; community relations, planning and development, health services, training, labor relations, and disciplinary review. Tables show the distribution of civilian and sworn personnel as well as police officers by rank and unit. Under technical services, the report describes the functions and progress achieved by the identification and records, property, communications, data processing, and fleet management divisions. Finally, inspection services are reviewed, such as the morals division and internal affairs. The report provides maps, graphs of major crimes reported and cleared by month, arrest data, and information on stolen property, weapons used in specific offenses, and assaults on law enforcement officers. Photographs are included.
