Standards for Adult Community Residential Services - Second Edition

NCJ Number
86415
Date Published
1980
Length
75 pages
Annotation
These revised national standards on community residential services for offenders cover residential administration and organization, fiscal management, personnel, research and evaluation, records, safety and emergency procedures, and other services.
Abstract
They address community services communication and coordination responsibilities, facility conditions, medical care and food services, intake procedures, supervision, citizen and volunteer involvement, and out-client services. The residential facilities can be halfway houses, work release centers, or prerelease centers for probationers, parolees, or others. The program may also serve nonresidential clients. These standards set high levels of compliance for agencies seeking to upgrade their services, programs, or overall operation. Community residential agencies can use them as a tool for accreditation and as guidelines for self-improvement, as well as to stimulate change. The text includes a glossary and index, the American Correctional Association Code of Ethics, and a list of standards cross-referenced to the initial manual.
