Tabulations present 1981 crime statistics for the West German State of Lower Saxony, and graphic illustrations indicate crime trends in the region. A total of 493,270 offenses were committed in 1981, of which 38.3 percent were aggravated theft and 30.4 percent simple theft.
Abstract
Organization and jurisdiction of the criminal police of Lower Saxony are depicted, and crime statistics are comparatively reviewed between the years 1972 and 1981. Statistics are given on the use of weapons in criminal offenses, and offenses which have increased as well as those which have decreased are identified. Offender data emphasize the extent of foreigner participation in crime, as well as age and sex. Individual tabulations are devoted to the following crime types: offenses against life, sex offenses, robbery, assault, theft, fraud, and drug-related crime. Most of the document is in tabular form.
