This guide consists of a main body of nontechnical definitions for terms commonly found in the drug abuse field, as well as appendixes containing a general drug classification scheme, a collection of slang terms for selected drugs, and a list of acronyms and abbreviations commonly found in the drug abuse field.
Abstract
Terms defined are listed in alphabetical order and include types of drugs, therapies, concepts, organizations, and other terminology germane to the drug abuse field. Drugs are defined under their generic names; brand names can be found in the appendix. Most of the terminology was taken from the National Institute on Drug Abuse's Research Issues Series. Over 200 references and a bibliography with 17 citations are provided.
