This annual report, prepared by the Arkansas Crime Information Center, is part of the nationwide Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program based on data collected by law enforcement agencies.
Abstract
Because of their seriousness, frequency of occurrence, and likelihood of being reported, the Crime Index is comprised of eight offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor-vehicle theft, arson. UCR standards of reporting are used; data are collected monthly. State punishment variations prevent distinguishing between felony and misdemeanor crimes. The report has eight sections, the first informational and with a glossary, the other seven are statistical; data are presented in chart or graph form. Sections 2 through 8 cover: crime summary, statewide crime index data, crime index offenses by contributor, value of property stolen and recovered, arrest data, law enforcement employee data, and law enforcement officers assaulted. The report is intended to provide an overview of crime based on submitted statistics. It includes only the number of arrests and incidents known and reported by law enforcement agencies.
