The book first notes how a criminal record can adversely affect employment opportunities and then provides advice on which employment questions on criminal history can be legally employment questions on criminal history can be legally asked and on how to reply to such questions based on particular criminal histories. Elements of criminal records are explained, followed by information on how to get copies of these records and correct any inaccuracies discovered. Subsequent chapters describe how to seal, expunge, or destroy records for various types of offenses committed by adults and juveniles. Chapters pertaining to juvenile records provide basic information on destroying or sealing juvenile delinquency and status offenses records as well as on dealing with records pertaining to juvenile dependency, youthful offenders under Federal law, juvenile misdemeanor convictions, and juveniles treated as adults. Honorable discharges from the California Youth Parole Board are also considered. Other chapters address the sealing, expunging, or destroying of marijuana records, criminal convictions with probation, misdemeanor convictions with no probation, Federal drug possession charges, arrest and detention records, and records of rehabilitated narcotics addicts. The reduction of felony convictions to misdemeanors is also addressed. Relevant forms are appended.
