Type: Bibliography
Language: English
Country: United States of America
Annotation: This annotated bibliography of 118 entries addresses prevention, initiation, maintenance, treatment, and cessation of drug use by one or more of its members.
Abstract: This is the second volume in the Research Issues Series on the role of the family in the drug use of one or more of its members. This volume is not intended to replace the earlier one but rather to update and supplement it. Although journal articles compose the majority of entries, abstracts of several pertinent books and book chapters are also included. All entries were selected according to the following criteria: empirical research studies with findings pertinent to the topic or major reviews of theoretical approaches; published between January 1970 and the present; not previously included in the Research Issues Series; representative of the many social, psychological, and medical facets in the drug/family field; and English language with a focus on American drug issues. Each abstract describes what was done, why it was done, what methodology was used, the result found, and the conclusions drawn. Entries are divided into the topic areas of theoretical issues, research reviews, family dynamics, adolescents and adolescent/parent relationships, and family treatment approaches.
Main Term(s): Drug abuse causes
Index Term(s): Domestic relations; Home environment
