Annotation: This report highlights the activities of the Rhode Island court system in 1990.
Abstract: The report summarizes the State's court structure and notes issues related to the judicial budget, violent crime indemnity fund, domestic abuse advocacy program, and the State Court victim services unit. Issues discussed with regard to the Rhode Island Supreme Court include the use of prebriefing conferences; the restructuring of the attorney system; and the activities of the Advisory Committee on Women in the Courts, the Domestic Violence Task Force, and the Fugitive Task Force. The report contains a section on the Administrative Office, focusing on the use of the courts' computer system, the dedication of a new facility, the State law library system, budget constraints, and public affairs. Other sections deal with the Superior Court, Family Court, and District Court; caseload summaries are provided and other relevant concerns summarized. 4 appendixes
