Annotation: This report presents statistics on felons, civil narcotic addicts, and other populations under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Corrections (CDC) in 1990.
Abstract: Eight chapters contain information on the various types of populations under CDC jurisdiction. These are institutional and parole populations arrivals and departures, felon new admissions, parole violators returned with a new term, the institutional population, the behavior of inmates in CDC institutions, felon parolees, parole movements (arrivals and departures), and "other CDC populations." In each chapter summary data are presented through descriptive text, charts, and graphs that show trends and provide comparisons of the constantly changing CDC population. More indepth information for each chapter is provided in tables located in the Data Section. These tables are referenced throughout the text as the source for the charts and graphs. The final section is the Reference Guide, which provides a list of prisons by name and location, maps that identify the counties and the areas of commitment and parole regions, a glossary of terms and acronyms used throughout the publication, and a list of statute numbers for the offense categories.
Main Term(s): Inmate statistics; Parole statistics
