Annotation: This report highlights the activities of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda in 1989.
Abstract: The first section provides a general report and survey of the police force and describes police command, problems facing the police force, honors and awards, commendations, ceremonial occasions, promotions, conditions of service, visits of important persons and Her Majesty's ships, major operations, training, operating costs of the police and fire brigade, and activities of the police welfare association. The section on administration and organization discusses manpower strength and deployment, civil establishment, the health of police personnel, details of promotions, divisional organization and responsibility, discipline, length of service, composition of the force, and police service commission. The report outlines the activities of the major branches and divisions of the police force including crime and criminal investigations, drugs, sudden deaths, missing persons and motor vehicles, patrols, criminal records office, fingerprint and photography, collator system, and court process. Two additional chapters cover the duties of the vehicles licensing and road traffic department and the fire brigade. Functions of other branches of the police force -- police stores, armory, special branch, immigration, special patrol group, women police, transport and maintenance, communication, marine branch, police band, firearms, liquor licensed premises, revenue collection, warrants, and summonses -- are briefly outlined. The final chapter deals with matters related to police welfare and recreation. 20 appendixes
