Annotation: This annual statistical collection includes all crimes and attempted crimes reported to the police of the German State of Niedersachsen in 1992.
Abstract: The first section analyzes the crime situation in Niedersachsen as compared to previous years; it presents comparative figures on the total number of offenses, the types of offenses, and the clearance rate for each offense type. Additional comparative statistics are presented on violent offenses, use of firearms in criminal offenses, theft, environmental offenses, and drug law offenses. The following section focuses on specific offenses: offenses against life, sexual offenses, robbery, bodily injury, theft, fraud, environmental offenses, drug law offenses, and other offenses. Each chart includes the number of reported cases and the clearance rate for 1991 and 1992. The following sections present statistics on age and gender of the general population of Niedersachsen as compared to the age and gender of crime suspects. A special section is devoted to the foreign population and foreign crime suspects: their age and gender, their residence status, the types of offenses committed, and the nationality. The next section analyzes crime victims according to age, gender, and relationship to the offender. Last, offenses in the major cities of Niedersachsen are categorized according to number, use of firearms, clearance rates, and suspects. Numerous statistical charts and administrative information from the Niedersachsen State Bureau of Criminal Investigation are appended.
