Annotation: This report profiles the inmate populations of Florida's detention facilities for February 1995 and include male, female, adult, and juvenile inmates.
Abstract: Data are arranged into felony, misdemeanor, and other (parole violators, State inmates, undocumented aliens, holdings for other jurisdictions, and individuals detained under mental health and alcoholism laws. Within both felony and misdemeanor subcategories, the number of inmates sentenced, held for trial or sentencing, and detained or sentenced for violations of probation are listed. An average of 39,301 inmates were in Florida's county detention facilities each day during February 1995, an increase of 3.1 percent from January 1995. A total of 73.4 percent were incarcerated for felony offenses, 20.2 percent for misdemeanors, and 6.4 percent for other reasons. Juveniles accounted for 2.6 percent of the overall inmate population; males accounted for 89.3 percent of those incarcerated. Offenders held for trial represented 57.8 percent of the inmate population. Tables
