Annotation: This bulletin contains statistical data on the issue of firearm and shotgun certificates in England and Wales under the Firearms Acts 1968 to 1992.
Abstract: At the end of 1994, 140,200 firearm certificates were on issue in England and Wales, an increase of 1 percent from the end of 1993. One percent of the 11,700 applications for new certificates were denied. By the end of 1994, 670,000 shotgun certificates were on issue, the lowest figure since 1971; 1.3 percent of new shotgun certificates were denied in 1994. There were 2,520 dealers registered to sell firearms, 80 more than in 1993. Firearms permits granted to visitors covered about 2,000 persons, with an additional 5,700 persons covered by visitors' shotgun permits. 4 tables, 3 figures, 9 appendix tables, and 16 notes
