Annotation: This booklet presents the history and activities of the Arab Security Studies and Training Center (ASSTC) in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, which was established in 1980 in response to the needs of Arab countries for a joint Arab effort to enhance the technical and scientific standards of security programs in the Arab world.
Abstract: The Research Center of the ASSTC was established in 1980 and aims at establishing a foundation of scientific knowledge that contributes to the formulation of decisionmaking and policies in the fields of criminal justice and crime prevention. The Publishing House publishes magazines and periodicals, books, scientific materials, and documentaries and informational prints. The Consulting Services Office was established in 1986 as a consulting and advice organization that offers security studies. Established in 1985, the Security Information Center of the ASSTC gathers, stores, and publishes information that pertains to the security of the communities. The Security Specialized Library serves those who participate in the Center's activities, and the Training Institute trains security officers. Established in 1981, the Symposia Department organizes specialized symposia, seminars, and conferences on issues pertinent to the Center's specialization and interests. Other components of ASSTC are the Graduate School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science Laboratories, the Audio-Visual Production Unit, the Security Exhibition Department, and International Cooperation.
