Annotation: This report lists 126 innovative urban policing programs reported by mayors for the January 1994 edition of the Mayors' Criminal Justice Clearinghouse.
Abstract: The programs include comprehensive community policing programs, crime and drug law enforcement, crime and drug task forces, diversion programs, domestic assault, drug abuse education, environmental improvement programs, gang prevention and elimination, and general crime prevention. They also include immigrant assistance programs, improvements in police service and management, neighborhood- based crime prevention, patrol services, police-community partnerships, safety education programs for children, senior service programs, youth programs, and other programs. The description of each program includes its purpose, structure, components, contact person, address, and telephone number. Description of the United States Conference of Mayors and the purposes and accomplishments of NIJ.
