The Federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act has had a major positive impact on the juvenile justice system in Tennessee by providing funds to stimulate major systems changes, capacity building, and system improvements. |

| Abstract: |
The funds have increased the range of service delivery alternatives available, as well as juvenile delinquency prevention programs. The funds also provided the resources essential for developing the Tennessee rules of juvenile procedure, developing standardized record keeping in Tennessee juvenile courts, supporting training for juvenile court judges and staff, and eliminating the placement of juveniles in adult jails. Funds have also supported the deinstitutionalization of juvenile status offenders; a compilation of Tennessee laws on children, youth, and families; placement alternatives for juveniles; and delinquency prevention and early intervention. The Federal assistance has been crucial in providing information, technical assistance and guidance, and funds for prevention and early intervention. |
