Abstract: |
IACP is a nonprofit organization of approximately 14,000 members from the world's law enforcement community. Its objective since 1893 has been to foster the growth of police professionalism. It supports law enforcement professionals through technical assistance programs; training programs and materials; a professional magazine, newsletters, and reports; and extensive law enforcement research. During 1995 IACP extended its reach and developed a stronger membership base, developed a document outlining its position on every legislative issue, expanded its interaction with other law enforcement organizations, created a Law Enforcement Drivers Training Committee, and laid the groundwork for a National Criminal Justice Forum to address issues and trends as they affect law enforcement. The Division of State and Provincial Police and the Division of State Associations of Chiefs of Police are the two specialized membership groups within IACP that contribute to working relationships with a wide range of law enforcement professionals.
