Abstract: |
After analyzing the emergence or renaissance of community
policing in Great Britain, the author concludes that community
policing in the United Kingdom has been partially successful;
however, the achievements of community policing have been
tempered by the limits of its effectiveness and the selectivity
of the variables used to measure policing effectiveness. At the
same time, the author points to some lessons that the British
experience with community policing can teach in the management
and assessment of police organizations. 80 references
