Annotation: This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) newsletter provides up-to-date notices of agency activities, recent publications, funding opportunities, and upcoming events.
Abstract: This newsletter describes how OJJDP and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children will mark the 20th anniversary of National Missing Children's Day on May 23, 2002. A ceremony will be held at the U.S. Department of Justice's Hall of Justice. Attendees at the ceremony will include children who were missing and have been reunited with their families, parents of children who are still missing, law enforcement officers who investigate these cases, child advocates, and individuals and corporate sponsors dedicated to reuniting families. The newsletter also outlines the fiscal year 2002 Proposed Program Plan for OJJDP's Missing and Exploited Children's Program (MECP). OJJDP is proposing to continue its focus on national programs that promote awareness of and enhance the Nation's response to missing and exploited children and their families. Another section of the newsletter highlights OJJDP's current and upcoming solicitations, recent grant awards, and other funding-related developments. Other topics covered are the OJJDP web site redesign and an outline of the contents of "A Family Resource Guide on International Parental Kidnapping." Annotations of new OJJDP publications are also provided.
