Annotation: This report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation presents data on crime statistics for the State for 2010.
Abstract: Highlights from this report show that: in Tennessee in 2010, 582,134 Group A offenses were reported to law enforcement agencies, a 2.6-percent decrease from 2009; 59.2 percent of the reported crimes were crimes against property, while 28.4 percent were crimes against persons and 12.4 percent were crimes against society; the crime rate for Group A offenses was 9.1 per 100 persons while the arrest rate was 6.1 per 100 persons; domestic violence offenses accounted for 51.4 percent of all crimes against persons; the number of persons arrested for Group A offenses was 166,199; and the number of methamphetamine clandestine labs increased 35.2 percent between 2009 and 2010, while the number of reported murders decreased by 23.7 percent. This report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation presents data on crime statistics for the State of Tennessee for 2010. Data for the report were obtained from the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS) which collects information on every single crime occurrence and on each offense and arrest within the occurrence. The system collects information on 22 crime categories made up of 47 specific offenses (Group A Offenses). The report includes statewide reports on overall crime rates, statewide reports on arrestees, statewide reports on victims, 3-year trend reports, reports for individual sheriff’s departments, reports for municipal police departments, reports from other police departments, reports from State task forces, reports from colleges and universities, and reports from State agencies and State parks.
