Abstract: THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE INADEQUACY OF CURRENT TERMS TO SPECIFY THIS TYPE OF ORGANIZED CRIME. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE THE METHODS USED BY THE FRENCH CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM TO ANALYZE AND COMBAT 'BANDITRY'. THE MOST CHARACTERISTIC OFFENSE OF BANDITS IS ARMED ROBBERY. --IN FRENCH
