Annotation: THE PURPOSES OF THIS FILM ARE TO ALERT GIRLS AND WOMEN TO THE SPECIAL DANGERS THEY MAY FACE; TO SUGGEST WAYS OF PREVENTING TROUBLE, OR OF COPING WITH IT; AND TO HELP EDUCATE POLICE AND SECURITY PERSONNEL IN THIS AREA.
Abstract: DRAMATIZED INCIDENTS SHOW HOW WOMEN CAN MINIMIZE THE DANGERS OF PERSONAL ASSAULT. AMONG THE SITUATIONS SHOWN ARE THOSE DEALING WITH GETTING INTO A CAR IN THE GARAGE; HAVING MOTOR TROUBLE ALONG THE HIGHWAY; BEING FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER CAR; RIDING IN BUS OR SUBWAY; GOING TO A RESIDENTIAL AREA AT NIGHT; AND WALKING AT NIGHT. OTHER SITUATIONS INCLUDE HITCH-HIKING; HAVING A PURSE SNATCHED; LIVING ALONE IN A BIG APARTMENT BUILDING; WALKING IN THE PARK; ENCOUNTERING A VOYEUR AND AN EXHIBITIONIST; A LOVER'S LANE ATTACK; AND A MUGGER. SOME TIPS ARE GIVEN DON'T CARRY A LOT OF MONEY; LEAVE A LIGHT OR A RADIO ON IN AN EMPTY APARTMENT OR HOME; AVOID DARK STREETS; USE A TAXI AT NIGHT; IF ATTACKED - SCREAM AND KICK THE ASSAILANT'S KNEE OR GROIN. A KARATE INSTRUCTOR REPORTS THAT LESSONS IN SELF-DEFENSE TECHNIQUES ARE NOT MUCH USE UNLESS THE WOMAN KEEPS IN CONSTANT PRACTICE. A POLICEWOMAN AND OTHERS RECOMMEND USING COMMON SENSE AND STAYING AWAY FROM DANGERS.
