Abstract: THE THREE MAIN FACTORS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION ARE THE OFFENDER'S AGE, THE LENGTH OF HIS SENTENCE AND WHETHER OR NOT HE HAS BEEN IN DETENTION PENDING INVESTIGATION PRIOR TO TRIAL AND SENTENCING. DIAGRAMS ARE PROVIDED WHICH SHOW THE INSTITUTIONAL PLACEMENT OPTIONS OPEN, RESPECTIVELY FOR ADULTS (23 YEARS OR OLDER) WHO HAVE BEEN IN DETENTION PENDING INVESTIGATION, YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN IN DETENTION PENDING INVESTIGATION, AND ALL OTHER OFFENDERS. --IN DUTCH
