Abstract: AMONG THE TOPICS CONSIDERED IN THIS TEXT ARE THE MEANING AND SIGNIFICANCE OF CRIME CAUSATION THEORIES AND OF CRIME DATA, THE CONCEPT OF PUNISHMENT, THE SCOPE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CORRECTIONAL PROCESS, THE MEANING OF JUSTICE, AND THE NEW THRUST OF 'CRITICAL CRIMINOLOGY', SOMETIMES CALLED 'RADICAL CRIMINOLOGY'. ALSO EXAMINED ARE THE VARIOUS CATEGORIES OF CRIMES AND CRIMINAL BEHAVIORS, THE ACTUAL PROCESSES OF HANDLING THE OFFENDER, POLICE, JUVENILE JUSTICE, PROBATION, AND PAROLE.
