Annotation: A PROPOSAL FOR A DECENTRALIZED POLICE INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM TO COMPLEMENT MODERN POLICE OPERATIONS SUCH AS TEAM POLICING.
Abstract: THE AUTHOR INITIALLY DISTINGUISHES TWO BASIC APPROACHES TO POLICE FIELD OPERATIONS, THE TRADITIONAL TACTICAL MODEL AND THE RECENTLY DEVELOPED INFORMATION MODEL. HE DEMONSTRATES THAT WHERE THE INFORMATION MODEL HAS BEEN PROPERLY IMPLEMENTED, IT HAS BEEN FOLLOWED BY DECREASES IN CRIME RATES AND GREATLY INCREASED CLEARANCE RATES. THE FINAL SECTION DESCRIBES HOW THE EFFECTIVENESS OF AN INFORMATION MODEL FIELD SERVICE SYSTEM CAN BE IMPROVED EVEN FURTHER BY THE SYSTEMATIC USE OF CRIMINAL INTELLIGENCE. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
