Annotation: THIS CONSOLIDATION FEASIBILITY STUDY WAS MADE FOR THE SUFFOLK COUNTY (NY) POLICE, WHOSE 3,000 OFFICERS SERVE 1,300,000 PERSONS ON 1,000 SQUARE MILES, AND IS DATED JUNE, 1976.
Abstract: THE CONSOLIDATION UNDER DISCUSSION WAS TO COMBINE THE MEDICAL EXAMINER'S LABORATORY WITH THE COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT LABORATORY, BOTH OF WHICH SERVE THE WHOLE COUNTY. IN ARRIVING AT THE RECOMMENDATION TO MERGE THE TWO LABS, THE CONSULTANT STUDIED INTERNAL (BUDGET, PERSONNEL, EQUIPMENT, SPACE) AND EXTERNAL (RELATIONSHIPS WITH USER AGENCIES AND THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM) FACTORS.
