Annotation: DESCRIPTION OF THE EVALUATION DESIGN AND METHODS USED IN ASSESSING THE ABILITY OF 18 OUT OF 53 OF NEW YORK CITY'S FEDERALLY FUNDED PROJECTS PROVIDING REHABILITATION AND DIVERSION SERVICES TO TYPICAL MALE OFFENDER CLIENTS.
Abstract: THIS DOCUMENT IS AN APPENDIX TO A FINAL REPORT EVALUATING EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROJECTS. THE SECTION ON DESIGN DESCRIBES RATIONALE, GOALS, AND INITIALLY INTENDED ANALYSIS. THE METHOD SECTION DESCRIBES THE PROCEDURES USED IN COLLECTING, PROCESSING, ANALYZING, AND REPORTING THE DATA FOR VARIOUS TASKS OVER THE COURSE OF THE EVALUATION. SUBDIVISIONS OF THE SECTION DESCRIBING METHOD WERE DETERMINED BY IMPORTANCE OF TASKS INCLUDING DEVISING AND USING THE STANDARD INTAKE FORM USED TO GATHER CLIENT IDENTIFICATION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION; DEVELOPING A MEASURE OF SEVERITY FOR CRIMINAL HISTORY COMPARING AVERAGE NUMBER OF ARRESTS WITH A MODIFICATION OF THE SELLIN SCALE; DEVELOPING AND UTILIZING RETRIEVAL PROCEDURES FOR RECORDS OF CRIMINAL HISTORY FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND ANALYSIS OF RESULTS.
