Abstract: OPERATION PEACEFUL NEIGHBORHOODS WORKED TO FOSTER BETTER INTERGROUP RELATIONS BETWEEN PEOPLES. WHILE THE EVALUATORS BELIEVED THE PROGRAM TO BE A BIG SUCCESS, IT IS NOT SLATED FOR REFUNDING BY THE CITY FOR 1977. THE EVALUATORS HOPED THEIR REPORT WOULD HELP CONVINCE THE CITY OTHERWISE. IN INTERVIEWS WITH COMMUNITY RESIDENTS, THE EVALUATORS FOUND THAT THEY HELD THE PROGRAM IN HIGH ESTEEM. RESIDENTS RESPONDED THAT THE CENTER HAD HELPED THEM TO KNOW THEIR NEIGHBORS, THAT IT HAD HELPED TO KEEP CHILDREN OFF THE STREETS BY GIVING THEM OTHER ACTIVITIES, AND THAT CRIME HAD BEEN CUT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD...BS
