Annotation: STATISTICS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF SELECTED INTENSIVE PROBATION PROJECTS IN VARIOUS CITIES.
Abstract: TWENTY PROJECTS OUT OF 46 WERE SELECTED FOR SITE VISITS BASED ON WHAT SOUNDED GOOD IN A TELEPHONE SURVEY. THE PROJECTS WERE IN SUCH CITIES AS PHILADELPHIA, NEW YORK, ATLANTA, BALTIMORE, SAN JOSE, AND DES MOINES. MOST PROJECTS HAD BEEN IN OPERATION FOUR OR MORE YEARS, AND HAD MORE THAN 250 PROBATIONERS IN THEM. NONE HAD ANY OF THEIR CLIENTS INCARCERATED. OTHER DATA LISTED IN THE STUDY IS ABOUT THE BUDGET SIZES FOR THE PROJECTS, THE LEAA REGION THEY ARE IN, AND SIZE OF STAFF.
