Annotation: ARTICLE REVIEWS THE OPERATIONS AND INTRICACIES OF THE REGIONAL CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE.
Abstract: THE MEMPHIS REGIONAL CORRECTIONAL CENTER UTILIZES A UNIT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TO IMPLEMENT ITS TREATMENT OBJECTIVES. THIS PAPER BRIEFLY REVIEWS BOTH THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF UNIT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND THE OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES IN ITS IMPLEMENTATION. BASICALLY, UNIT MANAGEMENT INVOLVES THE HOUSING OF CLIENTS IN UNITS WITH EACH UNIT FOCUSING UPON A PARTICULAR SPECIALTY. FURTHER, THE PAPER REVIEWS THE BEHAVIORISTIC ORIENTATION WITHIN EACH UNIT AND THE THEORETICAL BASES OF THE TREATMENT. FINALLY, THE REHABILITATIVE GOALS OF THE SYSTEM ARE REVIEWED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES.(AUTHOR ABSTRACT)....BDS
