Annotation: THIS PROGRAM EVALUATION WAS UNDERTAKEN FOR THE CITY OF CLEVELAND HEIGHTS (OH) DIVISION OF POLICE WHOSE 99 SWORN OFFICERS SERVE APPROXIMATELY 61,000 RESIDENTS OF AN 8.2 SQUARE MILE AREA.
Abstract: THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM ARE AS FOLLOWS: SCIENTIFIC PLANNING OF PATROL RESOURCE DEPLOYMENT; SCIENTIFIC DEPLOYMENT OF SUPPORT (NON-PATROL) RESOURCES; EFFECTIVE SUPERVISION AND MONITORING OF THE PATROL ACTIVITY; MOTIVATION AND INDOCTRINATION OF POLICE PERSONNEL IN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PATROL FUNCTION; AND, REDUCTION IN CRIME WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON INDEX CRIMES. A NOTICEABLE REDUCTION IN CRIME CONTINUED AS THE PROGRAM CONCLUDED ITS ONE AND ONE-HALF YEAR EXISTENCE.
