Annotation: THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE GENERAL TRENDS IN RESEARCH AND POLICY MAKING IN THE SCANDANAVIAN COUNTRIES.
Abstract: AS IN MANY OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN SCANDANAVIA TRADITIONALLY TAKES PLACE AT THE UNIVERSITIES. GOVERNMENT RESEARCH UNITS ALSO CONDUCT STUDIES IN A NUMBER OF COUNTRIES. A TYPICAL FEATURE OF SCANDANAVIAN CRIMINOLOGY HAS BEEN A HEAVY ORIENTATION TOWARDS SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH. SOME EXAMPLES OF PRESENT-DAY CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN SCANDANAVIA ARE PROVIDED. FINALLY, CRIMINAL SANCTIONS AND DECRIMINALIZATION IN SCANDANVIAN COUNTRIES ARE DISCUSSED...DMC
