Abstract: ACTIVITIES FOR 1976 INCLUDED STAFF ASSISTANCE IN ESTABLISHING A JUDICIAL PLANNING COMMITTEE (IN CONNECTION WITH THE LEAA REAUTHORIZATION ACT OF 1976), REORGANIZATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE FISCAL OFFICE, ADDITION OF A FULL-TIME LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE OFFICE OF THE COURTS, EXPANSION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE OF THE JUDICIARY, IMPROVEMENTS IN THE MAGISTRATE (JUSTICE OF THE PEACE) COURTS, A STATEWIDE STUDY OF THE CONSTABLES, AND A NEW APPROACH TO STATISTICAL EVALUATIONS OF JUDICIAL PERFORMANCE BY CASE WEIGHTING. THE MAGISTRATE COURT PROJECT INCLUDED REVIEW OF EACH PERSON'S WORK, TRAINING, A UNIFORM DOCKET TRANSCRIPT FORM, AND A CONTINUING EFFORT TO KEEP THE MAGISTRATES INFORMED OF COURT OPINIONS OF INTEREST TO THEM.
