Annotation: THIS RECORDS MANAGEMENT STUDY DATED JULY 22, 1977, WAS CARRIED OUT FOR THE WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON, POLICE DEPARTMENT WHOSE 41 PERSONNEL (31 SWORN) SERVE 23,000 PERSONS IN AN AREA OF 9.3 SQUARE MILES.
Abstract: IT WAS FOUND THAT BEFORE THE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM REQUESTED COULD BE IMPLEMENTED, BASIC RECORDKEEPING AND DATA COLLECTION HAD TO BE IMPROVED. ALL FORMS USED WERE EXAMINED AND SUGGESTIONS MADE FOR SIMPLIFICATION, STANDARDIZATION OF DATA, AND ELIMINATION OF DUPLICATION. INTEGRATION OF SPECIALIZED DATA INTO THE TOTAL SYSTEM IS DISCUSSED. SUGGESTIONS ARE ALSO MADE FOR DOCUMENT SECURITY. APPENDIXES GIVE SAMPLE REPORT FORMS, A SAMPLE PROCEDURES MANUAL, AND REQUIREMENTS FOR USABLE DATA.
