Annotation: CONTEMPORARY POLICE MANAGEMENT ISSUES ARE DISCUSSED IN A SERIES OF SIX AUDIO CASSETTES AND MAGAZINES DIRECTED TO POLICE EXECUTIVES.
Abstract: THE TAPES COVER THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: CURRENT LABOR/MANAGEMENT TOPICS; POLICE RISK REDUCTION; CORRUPTION IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM; PERSONNEL SELECTION; TERRORISM IN THE UNITED STATES; AND CRIME MEASUREMENT. THE MAGAZINES ACCOMPANYING THE TAPES OFFER REPRODUCTIONS OF THE INDEPTH TAPED INTERVIEWS WITH POLICE EXECUTIVES AND OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE IN DEALING WITH THE ISSUES. THE MAGAZINES ALSO INCLUDE SUMMARIES OF ARTICLES FROM PROFESSIONAL JOURNALS AND BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES AND PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE PERSONS INTERVIEWED. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE MATERIALS BE CIRCULATED AMONG KEY PERSONNEL IN POLICE DEPARTMENTS AND THAT THE TAPES BE USED AS THE BASIS FOR DISCUSSIONS IN SMALL GROUP MEETINGS. FOR SEPARATE TAPE-MAGAZINE SECTIONS, SEE NCJ-43842 THROUGH 43847.
