Abstract: THE DATA FOR THE LIST WERE COLLECTED BETWEEN JANUARY AND MARCH 1978. ENTRIES ARE PRESENTED ALPHABETICALLY BY STATE AND ARE LISTED EITHER AS 'SHELTERS' OR 'OTHER SERVICES.' EACH ENTRY PROVIDES THE PROGRAM'S NAME, ADDRESS, AND TELEPHONE NUMBER, AS WELL AS A LIST OF THE SERVICES IT PROVIDES AND ITS PRIMARY SOURCES OF FUNDING. AT LEAST ONE PROGRAM IS LISTED FOR EACH OF THE 50 STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, AND PUERTO RICO, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HAWAII, MISSISSIPPI, NEVADA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, AND WYOMING. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 310 LISTINGS IN ALL. (VDA)
