Abstract: REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE MIDWEST RESEARCH INSTITUTE, THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON CRIME AND THE ELDERLY, THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF SENIOR CITIZENS, LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO, AND NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY TESTIFIED ALONG WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ON A VARIETY OF RESEARCH-RELATED TOPICS WITH RESPECT TO THE CRIMINAL VICTIMIZATION OF THE ELDERLY, INCLUDING: OFFENSE AND OFFENDER CHARACTERISTICS; ATTITUDES ON ELDERLY VICTIMIZATION AND SUGGESTED FEDERAL COUNTERMEASURES; VICTIMIZATION RATES AND TRENDS; THE ROLE OF VOLUNTEERS, VICTIM SERVICES, AND VICTIM COMPENSATION; CRIME DETERRENCE AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS; TYPES OF OFFENSES AND ELDERLY VULNERABILITY; PUBLIC EDUCATION AND SECURITY; AND THE ECONOMIC AND PHYSICAL CONSEQUENCES OF CRIMINAL VICTIMIZATION OF THE ELDERLY.
