Annotation: BOOK REVIEWS RELEVANT TO FORMATIVE AND SUMMATIVE EVALUATION PROCEDURES AND THE ROLE OF EVALUATORS ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract: FORMATIVE EVALUATION PRODUCES INFORMATION THAT IS FED BACK DURING THE DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF A PROGRAM TO IMPROVE IT. SUMMATIVE EVALUATION IS PERFORMED AFTER A PROGRAM OR TYPE OF INTERVENTION HAS BEEN DEVELOPED AND PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM'S EFFECTIVENESS TO DECISIONMAKERS WHO ARE CONSIDERING ADOPTING THE PROGRAM. MUCH OF THE EVALUATION LITERATURE IS CONCERNED WITH SUMMATIVE EVALUATION.
