Annotation: THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SOCIAL PARTICIPATION IN CRIME PREVENTION AND THE RELEVANCE OF THE CONCEPT OF SOCIAL ORDER IN COMBATTING CRIME.
Abstract: AN INTENSE INFORMATIONAL CAMPAIGN IS NECESSARY TO PROMOTE A LEGAL AWARENESS, AND, THUS, ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION IN THE PREVENTION OF CRIME, I.E., PROPHYLACTIC ACTIVITIES. THESE ACTIVITIES CAN BE IDENTIFIED AS ALL-SOCIAL AND EXTRA-PREVENTIVE. THE SOCIAL COURTS PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE BY DEALING WITH CASES CONCERNED WITH THE RULES OF SOCIAL COEXISTIENCE AND SOCIAL ORDER WHEN THE ACT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A MAJOR OFFENSE. SOCIAL CONTROL, AN INSTRUMENT OF THE PROLETARIAT DICTATORSHIP, IS SAID TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PREVENTION OF CRIME. THE LARGEST ORGANIZATIONS IN POLAND EXERCISING SOCIAL CONTROL ARE THE TRADE UNIONS. SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS PERFORM ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH CRIME PREVENTION SUCH AS FIGHTING ALCOHOLISM. JUVENILE CRIME PREVENTION IS PRIMARILY A TASK OF THE FAMILY AND SCHOOLS WHICH ARE SUPPORTED BY ORGANIZED SOCIAL FORCES. THE DEGREE OF SOCIAL PARTICIPATION IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IS INCREASING. THE CODE OF PENAL PROCEDURE (ARTICLE 2 ITEM 2) STATES REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE FOLLOWING FORMS OF SOCIAL PARTICIPATION: THE ASSESSOR'S ROLE, THE PRESENCE OF A SOCIAL ORGANIZATION REPRESENTATIVE, SOCIAL GUARANTEE, AND THE SOCIAL COURT PROBATION OFFICER. THE VERSATILITY AND INTENSITY OF PROPHYLACTIC ACTIVITIES SUGGEST THE IMPORTANCE OF THEIR OPERATION IN COMBATTING CRIME. TABULAR DATA, REFERENCES, OR FOOTNOTES ARE NOT PROVIDED. (JCP)
